The Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Mykola Azarov, said he hopes to sign a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Cyprus, in a meeting with President of Cyprus’s House of Representatives, Marios Karoyan.
“For many years we are in talks to sign convention on avoiding double taxation. Ten years ago when I worked as the Head of Tax Administration, I started to deal with that matter. I think it’s time to put an end to this process and to sign an agreement,” said Azarov, in a statement issued on the government’s website.
Cyprus’s Finance Minister, Charilaos Stavrakis, will visit the country soon “to conclude the negotiations” said Karoyan. “We hope that this agreement will be signed,” he added.
He also said that the Ukraine “can always count on the support of Cyprus” in its bid to join the EU.A Ukraine-Cyprus business forum is due to take place in the first quarter of 2011.
